Microsoft Announces Pavan Davuluri as New Head of Windows and Surface
According to a report by The Verge, Pavan Davuluri, the current head of Surface operations, is set to take charge of the Windows+Web Experience division, overseeing products including Windows, Copilot, Bing, and Microsoft Edge, as well as the Windows+Surface hardware division. This move signifies his concurrent responsibility for both Microsoft’s Windows and Surface product initiatives.
Microsoft has yet to officially confirm this personnel change; however, Rajesh Jha, the Executive Vice President of the Microsoft Experiences and Devices Group, has announced this news through an internal memo. The memo also mentions the reassignment of Mikhail Parakhin, who was previously in charge of the Bing search engine and advertising business, with Pavan Davuluri assuming control over the existing Surface hardware and related Windows software operations, reporting directly to Microsoft’s Chief Technology Officer and Executive Vice President, Kevin Scott.
Before this appointment, Panos Panay, who was responsible for the Surface and Windows hardware business, left the company to join Amazon. As a result, Microsoft has divided his former duties, with Pavan Davuluri overseeing Surface products and Mikhail Parakhin managing the Windows+Web Experience division.
This restructuring is part of a broader integration with Microsoft’s newly established Artificial Intelligence division, incorporating services and applications like the Copilot.
