openSUSE Leap 42.3 stopped for supporting

openSUSE Leap 42.3 will be discontinued on June 30, 2019, meaning that the system will no longer receive software and security updates starting in July of this year. OpenSuSE Leap 42.3 was released two years ago (July 26, 2017) and is the third maintenance release update for the openSUSE Leap 42 series that is based on the last version of SUSE Linux Enterprise 12.

openSUSE Leap 42.3

openSUSE Leap 42.3 is based on the SUSE Linux Enterprise (SLE) 12 Service Pack 3 package with built-in Linux Kernel 4.4 kernel for long-term support. The system was originally scheduled to stop supporting in January 2019, but the openSUSE and SUSE project teams decided to give users more time to upgrade to the main openSUSE Leap 15 series with a delay of six months.

openSUSE Leap 42.3 officially ended its life today. This means that the openSUSE project will continue to stop releasing software updates and security patches. This also means that users are now required to upgrade to the latest openSUSE Leap 15.1 release. “On June 30th, 2019 the openSUSE Leap 42 release series will reach its end of life, after 4 years of lifetime (42.1 was released in fall 2015). openSUSE Leap 42.3 will receive no further maintenance or security updates after that date. It is recommended for openSUSE Leap users to upgrade to the recently released openSUSE Leap 15.1,” said Marcus Meissner.
