HMD Global plans to create products under its own “HMD” brand

Jean-Francois Baril, the co-founder, chairman, and CEO of HMD Global, recently disclosed on his personal LinkedIn that the company intends to craft products under its proprietary “HMD” brand.

Since its inception in 2016, HMD Global has championed the Nokia brand, launching mobile products for over six years. Now, they envisage charting a new path by fabricating products under their “HMD” brand, seeking novel opportunities for growth.

HMD Global will undoubtedly persist in producing Nokia-branded products. However, this will run parallel to their efforts with the “HMD” brand, aiming to appeal to diverse market demographics.

Baril hinted at impending collaborations with new partners for product launches, though specifics remain shrouded in mystery at the moment.

Furthermore, Baril proudly pronounced that HMD Global has ascended to become the most prominent mobile brand in Europe, exhibiting significant growth trajectories. They plan to consolidate their product manufacturing strategy within European territories from this year onward. He emphasized the company’s commitment to delivering high-quality, robust mobile products.
