EA’s Cliffhanger Games to partner with Marvel Games

Electronic Arts (EA) has announced that the newly-established AAA game studio Cliffhanger Games, based in Seattle, is welcoming a new project. In collaboration with Marvel, the studio is developing a third-person single-player game utilizing the ‘Black Panther’ IP. It aims to construct a broad and vibrant world, offering players the exhilarating experience of embodying the protector of Wakanda, the Black Panther.

Founded in 2021, Cliffhanger Games is helmed by industry veteran Kevin Stephens, former head of Warner’s Monolith studio, who spearheaded the development of action games like ‘Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor’ and ‘Middle-earth: Shadow of War.’ The studio boasts numerous seasoned developers who have contributed to a host of renowned games, including ‘Halo,’ ‘Call of Duty,’ and ‘God of War.’

We’re dedicated to delivering fans a definitive and authentic Black Panther experience, giving them more agency and control over their narrative than they have ever experienced in a story-driven video game. Wakanda is a rich Super Hero sandbox, and our mission is to develop an epic world for players who love Black Panther and want to explore the world of Wakanda as much as we do,” said Kevin.

EA asserts that the collaborative efforts of Cliffhanger Games’ development team and Marvel will ensure high standards in various aspects of the game, including technical implementation, character depiction, and original storytelling, all while paying close attention to detail and authenticity. EA announced its partnership with Marvel last year and is currently developing several new games based on Marvel IPs. The cooperation between the two commenced with ‘Iron Man.’
