Vibe Coding: Google AI Studio Unveils Tool to Build AI Apps from Prompts
Google has unveiled a completely reimagined development experience within Google AI Studio, known as “vibe coding.” This new capability enables the creation of fully fledged multimodal applications from a single text description — without the need to work with APIs, SDKs, or manually link models.
The core idea is to transform a concept into a functioning application within minutes. Now, one simply needs to describe the vision — for instance: “Create a mirror app that turns my photo into a fantasy portrait.” AI Studio, powered by the latest Gemini models, automatically selects the appropriate tools, modules, and interfaces. The user’s role is reduced to simply watching the AI “assemble” the project. For those seeking a spark of creativity, there’s even an “I’m Feeling Lucky” button that instantly generates random, imaginative ideas.
To assist both novice and seasoned developers, Google has redesigned its project gallery — now a visual library of ready-made prototypes and solutions that users can launch, explore, and customize for their own needs. Even during loading times, the app displays a “brainstorm” screen powered by Gemini, turning idle moments into flashes of inspiration.
Another highlight is the annotation mode, which makes editing as natural as conversation. Developers can simply highlight an interface element and describe the desired change — for example, “Make this button blue,” or “Have the image appear from the left.” Gemini interprets the instruction contextually and applies the modification instantly, eliminating the need to hunt through lines of code manually.
Developers can also link their own API keys once the free quota is exhausted; the system will automatically revert to standard settings when limits are refreshed.
According to the Google AI Studio team, the goal of these updates is to make AI app creation intuitive and universally accessible — even for those who have never written a single line of code. AI Studio now unifies every stage, from conception to realization, empowering users to bring their ideas to life with the help of Gemini models and a more seamless human–AI collaboration.
Logan Kilpatrick, Head of Product for Google AI Studio, affirmed that by the end of the year, anyone will be able to code their own games. He clarified that these would be “games that most sensible people would actually want to play with their friends — where they have full creative control over the story, characters, and gameplay.”
To accompany the launch, Google has also released a series of tutorial videos on YouTube, showcasing the full potential of vibe coding and the new creative workflows made possible through AI Studio.
