Sony announced that Access Controller will accept pre-orders on July 21

In May of this year, Sony’s PlayStation officially named the previously announced adaptive controller, Project Leonardo, as the “Access Controller”. This device can be used on a flat surface, rotated 360°, or mounted onto an AMPS bracket or tripod.

Sony’s PlayStation has confirmed the release date for the “Access Controller”: accepting pre-orders beginning on the 21st of July, 2023, with a global launch set for the 6th of December. The recommended retail price is USD 89.99, 119.99 CAD, 12980 JPY, 89.99 EUR, or 79.99 GBP.

Each Access Controller kit includes the following accessories:

  • Joystick caps (Standard, dome, and spherical)
  • Various shapes and sizes of button caps, including pillow-type, flat, broad flat (covers two buttons), suspended (suitable for players with small hands), and curved button caps (can be pressed or pulled depending on whether it’s positioned above or below)
  • Replaceable button labels, allowing players to easily mark corresponding inputs for each button

As an intricately customizable controller kit, the Access Controller can be used as a standalone device or paired with a DualSense controller, including two Access Controllers and one DualSense together. It offers interchangeable joysticks and buttons, with each button supporting three functions and saving up to three custom button configurations. Players can tailor the layout according to their strength, range of motion, and physical needs. Moreover, players can connect a variety of external devices and third-party accessories through four 3.5mm interfaces.
