Qualcomm Snapdragon will become Manchester United’s new advertising sponsor starting next season

Last year, Qualcomm inked a multi-year global strategic partnership with the Premier League football club Manchester United, centering around the Snapdragon brand. Qualcomm has pledged, under the aegis of the Snapdragon platform, to devise exclusive events and experiences for both Old Trafford and the global legion of Manchester United enthusiasts.

Qualcomm, seemingly insatiable with the initial collaboration, elected to further magnify the ambit of their partnership this year. Beginning the 2024-2025 season, Qualcomm will grace the distinguished position of Manchester United’s primary chest advertisement sponsor. The Snapdragon emblem will be prominently emblazoned on Manchester United’s jerseys, encompassing both the men’s and women’s home, away, and second-away kits. Furthermore, Qualcomm has consented to aid Manchester United in augmenting the mobile network infrastructure of Old Trafford, aiming to amplify the matchday experience for its ardent fans.

It’s understood that Qualcomm’s sponsorship fee for this chest advertisement peaks at a staggering £60 million annually, setting a new zenith in football for such a jersey sponsorship agreement. However, the duration of this prodigious contract remains enigmatic. Merely six weeks after Manchester United proclaimed its record-setting £900 million, decade-long kit partnership with Adidas, this underscores the club’s magnetic allure in the commercial sphere.

The club’s preceding chest advertisement sponsor was the German software behemoth, TeamViewer. In March 2021, both entities sanctioned a 5-year sponsorship deal, valuated at £235 million, translating to an annual fee of £47 million. Evidently, Qualcomm’s fresh contract surpasses this amount considerably. However, in the wake of declining revenues post-pandemic for TeamViewer’s core operations, they engaged in negotiations with Manchester United, culminating in a mutual decision to dissolve their collaboration.
