Microsoft will add Bing Chat traffic to Bing Webmaster Tools

Bing Chat and other similar chatbots pose a threat to websites as they directly provide answers to users, eliminating the need for users to click on websites, thereby reducing website traffic and subsequently leading to lower advertising revenue. This problem is almost the same for all websites, and if traditional search engines are replaced, it will have a severe impact on websites.

Considering that Bing Chat is still in the testing phase, Microsoft is taking steps to address the issue as much as possible, although it is actually unsolvable. Currently, Microsoft is planning to add Bing Chat traffic to Bing Webmaster Tools, allowing administrators to see how much traffic they receive.

The principle is as follows: Bing Chat crawls information from the web to provide users with answers and then marks the source links for each piece of content. If users click on the links and enter the website from the answers, the traffic will be marked as coming from Bing Chat.

If Microsoft can prove that the traffic provided by Bing Chat is as much as that of regular search, then websites have nothing to worry about. However, this is unlikely, as Bing Chat is designed to solve the problem of users searching for answers on different pages.

After Google Bard is launched in the future, the same situation will occur, so websites will have to explore other alternatives when AI replaces traditional search engines.
