MediaTek is expected to announce Dimensity 9300 processor on November 6th

As Qualcomm prepares to unveil its next-generation flagship processor, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, at the Snapdragon Tech Summit 2023 in Hawaii, MediaTek has also heralded its intent to host a premier chip launch event for the Dimensity series on November 6th, where the unveiling of the new Dimensity 9300 processor is anticipated.

Mediatek poetically describes the forthcoming processor products as heralding the “Era of the Mega Core”. This evidently resonates with prior speculations suggesting that the Dimensity 9300 processor will amplify its core count, thereby enhancing overall computational prowess.

MediaTek Dimensity 9300

Earlier suppositions posit that the Dimensity 9300 might be structured around a quartet of Cortex-X4 CPUs paired with another quartet of Cortex-A720 CPUs, complemented by the Immortalis-G720 GPU. However, there’s also conjecture suggesting a singular Cortex-X4 CPU might be combined with a triad of Cortex-A720 CPUs and a quartet of Cortex-A520 CPUs. This indicates MediaTek’s explorations into varying core configurations, aiming to strike an optimal equilibrium between performance and power consumption.

Historically, Qualcomm’s processors, owing to their superior performance, remained the preferred choice for myriad smartphone products. Yet, in recent years, with MediaTek’s Dimensity processors steadily closing the gap, Qualcomm has begun to feel the pressure. Brands that were once long-term collaborators have started to increasingly incorporate MediaTek’s processors. This apparent shift has seemingly prompted Qualcomm to acknowledge MediaTek’s escalating presence as a formidable contender. Consequently, Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon processors are being infused with a broader spectrum of capabilities, hoping to solidify their erstwhile status as the go-to processor for many smartphone brands.
