Epic Games Store is coming to iOS and Android soon

Epic Games officially announced on social media platforms that the Epic Games Store is set to debut on iOS and Android. Epic stated that the Epic Games Store will become the first game-centric multi-platform store, encompassing PC, macOS, iOS, and Android platforms. In the future, developers across all platforms will benefit from equitable terms, providing everyone with an exquisite gaming experience.

In a bid to compete with Steam, the Epic Games Store introduced a new program last year named “Epic First Run.” Under this innovative revenue-sharing model, game developers who agree to an exclusive release on the Epic Games Store for six months will enjoy 100% of the profits from their games. After the exclusivity period ends, the revenue split will revert to the standard model, with developers receiving 88% and Epic Games taking the remaining 12%. This attractive revenue-sharing proposition offers developers a significantly better deal compared to the steep 30% commission imposed by Apple and Google in their app stores.

Games or applications that chose to launch on the Epic Games Store on or after October 16th last year, without having been released on other third-party PC stores, are eligible to join the “Epic First Run” program. The terms are specifically designed to exclude third-party PC stores, but publishers and developers are still free to sell their products on their own stores and launchers, as well as distribute the Epic Games Store version in other stores.

Moreover, last year, Epic Games introduced a plan named “Now On Epic.” This incentive program is aimed at third-party developers and publishers who have previously released products, encouraging them to list these products on the Epic Games Store. For the first six months after a product’s arrival on the Epic Games Store, all revenues processed through Epic Games will be elevated from 88% to 100%. After this period, the revenue-sharing model will revert to the standard split, with developers taking 88% and Epic Games the remaining 12%, identical to the “Epic First Run” program.

Epic has indicated that the iOS and Android versions of the Epic Games Store are expected to launch later this year.
