Qualcomm Releases Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 Mobile Platform

Qualcomm announces the launch of the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 Mobile Platform, which delivers performance enhancements of 15% for the CPU and 45% for the GPU, alongside a 5% improvement in energy efficiency. This marks the first time terminal-side AI capabilities have been integrated into the Snapdragon 7 series to support a wide range of AI models, including Baichuan-7B, Gemini Nano, Llama 2, and the expansive language model ChatGLM.

Chris Patrick, Qualcomm’s Senior Vice President and General Manager of Mobile Handsets, stated that by further expanding the Snapdragon 7 series platform and leveraging support for next-generation technologies, consumers will be introduced to a richer and more sophisticated entertainment experience. This is also the first instance of Wi-Fi 7 being incorporated into the Snapdragon 7 series platform.

Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3

The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 Mobile Platform fully inherits the flagship features of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, utilizing the same TSMC N4P manufacturing process. This is Qualcomm’s initial application of its latest flagship architecture and process technology to the 7 series mobile platforms. Its CPU consists of a tri-cluster architecture (1+4+3), including a 2.8GHz Cortex-X4 core, four Cortex-A720 cores with a maximum frequency of 2.6GHz, and three 1.9GHz Cortex-A520 cores; the GPU is the Adreno 732, supporting new Snapdragon Elite Gaming features such as post-processing accelerators and Adreno Image Motion Engine 2.0; it integrates an 18-bit perceptual ISP, offering top-tier imaging capabilities; supports High Band Simultaneous (HBS) multi-connect technology; supports spatial audio and LE Audio; utilizes the Snapdragon X63 5G modem, supporting 3GPP 5G Release 17 features; and employs the FastConnect 7800 mobile connectivity system, bringing ultra-low latency Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3 connections.

OnePlus, realme, and Sharp are set to be the first adopters of the Snapdragon 7+  Gen 3 Mobile Platform, with related commercial terminals expected to launch in the coming months. OnePlus officially unveiled the OnePlus Ace 3V at last night’s launch event, marking the global debut of the third-generation Snapdragon 7+ Mobile Platform.
