Epic Games Launcher Update: Windows 7, 8, and 10 (32-bit) Lose Support

Recently, Epic Games issued a statement announcing that starting from June 2024, it will cease support for Windows 7, Windows 8, and the 32-bit version of Windows 10. Beyond this date, the Epic Games Launcher installed on these operating systems will not be subject to any form of updates.

Epic Games clarified that post-June 2024, while the Epic Games Launcher will remain usable on Windows 7, Windows 8, and the 32-bit version of Windows 10, it will no longer receive official support. This means that users employing these operating systems will not have access to technical support, and the functionality of the launcher on these systems may degrade or even become non-operational in the future.

It is understood that the Epic Games Launcher will continue to support the 64-bit version of Windows 10, Windows 11, and macOS versions 10.13 and above.

A year prior, Epic Games’ competitor, Steam, issued a similar announcement: starting from January 1, 2024, the Steam client will no longer support Microsoft Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1. Players wishing to continue using the Steam client and accessing their purchased games or other products will need to migrate to a newer version of the Windows operating system. This decision was driven by the new version of the Steam client’s reliance on an embedded version of Google Chrome, which, beginning with the Chrome 110 stable release, will cease support for these operating systems, necessitating this adjustment by Valve.

Furthermore, the Steam client discontinued support for macOS versions 10.13 and 10.14 (Mojave) on February 15, 2024, indicating a more rapid transition compared to Epic Games.
