Apple releases iOS 15.4 beta 2: Brings multiple features and fixes Siri’s recording bug

Recently, Apple released iOS 15.4 beta 2, which is the second beta version of iOS 15.4, bringing Tap to Pay, introducing digital certificates, optimizing Face ID unlocking, and added support for dedicated WiFi networks on HomePod. In addition, a bug involving the Siri function in the past iOS system has been further corrected.

Tap to Pay allows payment via Apple Pay, contactless credit and debit cards, and other digital wallets to be accepted via an NFC-enabled iPhone without requiring additional hardware, but is limited to the U.S. for the time being; when wearing a mask, Face ID can be unlocked by analyzing the features around the human eye.

In addition, in iOS 15, regardless of whether the user has set it up or not, some iPhones will automatically enable “Improved Siri and Dictation”, allowing Apple to record, store and view the user’s conversation with Siri so that Apple’s technicians can debug and improve Siri’s functions. This means that after a user chooses to close it, the recording may still be retained and shared.

Apple sent a statement to ZDNet, saying that in iOS 15.2 it had turned off the “Improved Siri and Dictation” setting for many Siri users while fixing related issues in iOS 15. The bug inadvertently enabled the “Improve Siri & Dictation” setting on some iPhones, but since its discovery, it has stopped reviewing and deleted all audio collected on all affected devices.

As for the circumstances under which Siri will automatically start recording in iOS 15, Apple did not specify. In the latest iOS 15.4 beta 2, Apple has made further optimizations. After the user’s iPhone is updated, a prompt will appear asking whether the user wants to turn on the “Improved Siri and Dictation” feature. For iPhone users, if you are still using iOS 15, it is best to update to iOS 15.2 or later.
