SK hynix’s 1αnm process DDR5 was certified by Intel for the first time

SK hynix announced that its 1αnm (4th generation 10nm level) process DDR5 server DRAM has been certified by Intel and is compatible with the new 4th generation Xeon Scalable processor.
1αnm process DDR5 server DRAM adopts EUV (extreme ultraviolet) lithography process. SK hynix said that it was the first time to obtain compatibility approval for the new Intel processor supporting DDR5, which is a milestone achievement. Through mass production of DDR5, it actively responds to the growing server market and at the same time responds to the sluggish market conditions of memory semiconductors. Compared with DDR4 products, the power consumption can be reduced by up to about 20%, and the performance can be improved by at least 70%, which is expected to provide server customers with a high energy consumption ratio and reduced carbon emissions.

“The validation of the 1anm DDR5 compatibility by Intel for its newest processor that supports DDR5 for the first time is monumental,” SK hynix said. “We will seek a fast turnaround in the semiconductor memory industry by actively responding to the growing server market through DDR5, which is already in mass production.”
In this Intel’s DDR5 certification, SK Hynix also successfully obtained the certification of 1ynm (second-generation 10nm level) process DDR5. SK hynix will use this as a technical basis to provide customers with a variety of DDR5 products such as 16Gb and 24Gb to increase sales of server DRAM.

SK Hynix also cooperated with Intel to issue a DDR5 white paper, which includes the advantages of DDR5 and the excellent performance of 1αnm-level DDR5 based on Sapphire Rapids, etc. It can be used as a reference for customers purchasing SK hynix DDR5 server DRAM.
