Samsung is currently initiating the development of Galaxy Ring

The Korean media outlet, The Elec, has reported that Samsung is currently initiating the development of an intelligent ring device, potentially named ‘Galaxy Ring.’ The advanced research and development phase is expected to commence this August, with the earliest market debut possibly in 2024.

Several analogous products have already been launched in the market. Samsung itself previously presented a concept design named ‘Charm,’ and Apple has also proposed similar patent designs mainly for interactive purposes within virtual visual environments.

In 2022, Samsung submitted a design patent concerning an intelligent ring to the Korean Intellectual Property Information Service, underscoring its pursuit of ring-like devices for tracking personal body data and enabling synchronization with other devices.

At present, the specific details of this potential ‘Galaxy Ring’ product by Samsung cannot be confirmed. However, it is likely to support body data tracking and incorporate a screen design, facilitating swift data inspection for the wearer. Yet, it remains uncertain whether the device’s operation would be conducted via touch, or through alternative interactive means such as gestures or voice recognition.

In addition to the ‘Galaxy Ring,’ related reports suggest Samsung is preparing to launch a new virtual reality head-mounted device. This move is likely aimed at challenging Apple’s Vision Pro product. The ring device would enhance the gesture-based interactive operating experience while also further syncing body data with the head-mounted device, thereby intensifying immersion within the virtual reality environment.
