Prime Computer launches PrimeBook Circular, Notebook with Modular Design

Recently, Swiss manufacturer Prime Computer has launched a notebook computer called PrimeBook Circular. Compared with similar products, the PrimeBook Circular is a little special. It adopts a modular design. The CPU, memory, and Wi-Fi solutions are all in an easy-to-replace module, and the size is similar to the general 2.5-inch SSD.

Such design ideas are not new, and Intel’s NUC P14E launched last year has the same idea. In fact, according to Prime Computer’s video introduction, it is confirmed that the PrimeBook Circular uses Intel’s NUC 11 Compute Element, and the three modules provided are consistent with the NUC 11 Compute Element. Prime Computer introduces more environmental protection and sustainable development concepts into the design of the PrimeBook Circular. “Prime Computer is the purpose brand dedicated to reducing e-waste, carbon emission, and energy consumption in ICT.”

The overall size of the PrimeBook Circular is 34 x 23 x 1.6 cm and the weight is 1.5kg. It uses a 13.9-inch IPS touch screen with a resolution of 3000 x 2000. The sRGB color gamut is 100% and the maximum brightness is 400 nits. Prime Computer currently provides three modules, the specific configurations are:

  • Intel Celeron 6305 / 4GB RAM / Intel UHD Graphics / Intel AX201
  • Intel Core i5-1135G7 / 8GB RAM / Intel Iris Xe Graphics / Intel AX201
  • Intel Core i7-1165G7 / 16GB RAM / Intel Iris Xe Graphics / Intel AX201
In addition, Prime Computer provides keyboard options (such as providing corresponding layouts according to the language/region selected); in terms of storage (single M.2 slot), you can choose none, 250GB, 500GB or 1TB; in terms of operating system, there is none, Ubuntu, Windows 10 or Windows 11. Prime Computer will determine the final pricing and delivery time based on the configuration selected by the user.

PrimeBook Circular is also equipped with HDMI 2.0b, Mini DisplayPort 1.4a, Thunderbolt 4/USB 4, USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A, Gigabit Ethernet, and a 3.5mm jack. There’s also a glass trackpad, a fingerprint reader, and an HD webcam that supports Windows Hello. In addition, the PrimeBook Circular’s battery is 77Whr and can be charged at 65W through the USB-C interface.
