Nvidia launches RTX A1000/A400

NVIDIA has announced the launch of its new workstation graphics cards based on the Ampere architecture, specifically the RTX A1000 and RTX A400, both featuring a minimalist design aesthetic.

This release marks NVIDIA’s first introduction of Ampere architecture professional graphics cards in over two and a half years, with the last product being the RTX A2000 12GB. Official renderings reveal that both the RTX A1000 and RTX A400 boast a sleek design, with a single-slot thickness and no need for an external power supply, maintaining a thermal design power (TDP) of 50W, which suggests modest heat generation.

Unlike products based on the Ada Lovelace architecture GPUs, the RTX A1000 and RTX A400 do not support AV1 encoding, though they are capable of encoding and decoding other video formats including H.264 and H.265. NVIDIA has yet to determine the pricing for the RTX A1000 and RTX A400; the former will be available soon, while the latter is expected next month.
