Jack Dorsey will return as CEO of digital financial services Block

CNN News reported that Jack Dorsey is poised to resume his position as the CEO of the digital financial service Block, formerly known as Square. Alyssa Henry, who was appointed CEO earlier this year, is set to step down and depart from the company.

It remains unclear whether Jack Dorsey will assume the CEO role in the long term, succeeding Alyssa Henry, or if his tenure will be interim until a suitable replacement is identified.

As CEO of Square, Alyssa Henry helped transform the business into a software-led technology company, guided the team during the uncertainty of global pandemic lockdowns, and expanded our breadth of services for small businesses around the world,” a Block company spokesperson told CNN in a statement Monday.

Square is what it is today in large part because of Alyssa’s leadership and we wish her the best in her future endeavors,” the statement added.

At the close of 2021, Square rebranded itself as Block, with its cryptocurrency division transitioning from Square Crypto to Spiral.

Alyssa Henry is anticipated to leave on October 2nd of this year, and her future endeavors have yet to be disclosed. Prior to joining Square, Alyssa Henry held a position at AWS, primarily overseeing software development, operations, and product management.
