How to adds the new extension management menu on Chromium Microsoft Edge

The new version of Microsoft Edge is currently in the process of rapid development. Currently, the official website has provided three channels of Beta, Dev, and Canary, and is applicable to Windows 10, Windows 7, and macOS system. Thanks to the Chromium-based browser, it means that you can access and use the extended application store, including Chrome Web Store, with just a few clicks.

Although the new Edge browser is fully compatible with extensions on the Chrome Web Store, Edge also comes with its own extension app store. Therefore, Microsoft hopes that users will be able to prioritize the most advanced and recommended extensions provided by Microsoft. But with the increase in extensions, how to manage these extensions more efficiently becomes more difficult. So Microsoft recently introduced a feature to help users manage extensions.

The new Edge browser is currently getting a new menu of extensions that will list all the extensions that are currently installed on the browser. However, this is only an experimental project, but I believe that Microsoft will continue to optimize it as soon as possible to all users. Google itself has tried the extension menu in Google Chrome, but the way you enable it in Microsoft Edge is slightly different.

First and foremost, you need to confirm that you are running the latest version of the Edge browser (Version 78.0.249.1). Next, create a desktop shortcut for Edge. Then right-click the property, you should see “C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge SxS\Application\msedge.exe” in the “Target” field, then add “–enable-features=ExtensionsToolbarMenu“.

Next, restart the Edge browser with this shortcut and you should see the new extension icon in the toolbar.
