Framework Funding Round Led by Spark Capital

Framework, renowned for manufacturing modular laptops, offers products that enable users to replace various components such as the motherboard, I/O ports, and batteries themselves. When placing orders, customers can select the modules that best suit their computing needs.

Recently, Framework announced the completion of a new funding round, raising $18 million. Of this, $17 million was secured through Series A funding led by Spark Capital, with contributions from Buckley Ventures, Anzu Partners, Cooler Master, and Pathbreaker Ventures. An additional $1 million was raised through a community round, involving 100 community members who each contributed $10,000.

Framework stated that this new round of funding would allow the company to deepen support for existing customers, expand the reach of its current products, and venture into new product categories. This expansion aims to support new consumer and business markets, ultimately encouraging more people to choose sustainable products across various categories.

According to Framework, the focus of this funding round extends beyond capital acquisition to forging strategic relationships and acquiring expertise. Each new investor was selected based on their belief in Framework’s mission, their team’s capabilities, their cooperative companies, and their network’s reach. For instance, Cooler Master has become a key strategic partner and supplier for the Framework Laptop 16. It is also the first company to join the Framework ecosystem, providing compatible products that allow for the reuse of Framework laptop motherboards. Currently, both companies are exploring other collaborative projects.

Framework also confirmed to the media that by the end of the year, the team size is expected to grow from about 50 to 60 members, with continued expansion anticipated through 2025.
