Lenovo releases ThinkPad P1 Gen 7 mobile workstation

Lenovo has announced the launch of the ThinkPad P1 Gen 7 mobile workstation. It features the Core Ultra processor and an NVIDIA RTX Ada workstation graphics card, and incorporates the industry’s first standard Low Power Compressed Additional Memory Module (LPCAMM2) from Micron.

The ThinkPad P1 Gen 7 mobile workstation employs recycled aluminum alloys on its exterior and magnesium alloy for the chassis, not only providing an eco-friendly and highly durable construction but also reducing the overall weight. Its dimensions are 354.40 x 241.20 x 17.05 mm, and it weighs approximately 1.82 kg, making it notably slender for a 16-inch laptop with a dedicated graphics card.

This new product offers a maximum configuration with the Intel Core Ultra 9 185H processor, which includes 6 performance cores, 8 efficiency cores, and 2 low-power efficiency cores, totaling 16 cores and 22 threads, with a turbo frequency up to 5.1 GHz and 24MB of L3 cache. It features an integrated Raptor graphics card with a Neural Processing Unit (NPU), providing robust AI computing power. The highest GPU option available is the RTX 3000 Ada, based on the Ada Lovelace architecture, with 4608 CUDA cores and 8GB of GDDR6 memory. Display options include a 16-inch touch-enabled OLED screen with a 92% screen-to-body ratio and UHD+ resolution, or a QHD+@165Hz IPS screen. It supports dual 2280 M.2 slots, both PCIe 4.0 x4, with up to 8TB of SSD storage. The battery capacity is 90Whr, accompanied by 135/170W power adapters.

Lenovo states that choosing to collaborate with Micron on the ThinkPad P1 Gen 7 has provided one of the fastest energy-saving modular memory solutions for PCs. It is the world’s first mobile workstation equipped with LPCAMM2 LPDDR5x memory, offering up to 64GB at a rate of 7467MT/s. Compared to SO-DIMM DDR5, LPCAMM2 LPDDR5x reduces power consumption by 61% and saves 64% more space. It provides higher bandwidth and dual-channel support through a single module, making it an ideal high-performance memory solution for mobile workstations and AI PC workloads.

Regarding connectivity, it includes Thunderbolt 4, USB-C (10Gbps), USB-A (5Gbps), HDMI 2.1, an SD card reader, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
