Former AMD technical marketing manager Robert Hallock defected to Intel

If one paid attention to AMD’s announcements last year regarding the new Ryzen 7000 series and AM5 platform, they might have often noticed a figure named Robert Hallock, the AMD executive in charge at the time. Then serving as AMD’s Technical Marketing Manager, Hallock was frequently active on social media, addressing gamers’ questions and elucidating AMD’s products, technologies, and policies.

On the eve of the new product launch in September of last year, Robert Hallock confirmed his departure from AMD, where he had worked for 12 years. Subsequently, Hallock entered a sabbatical phase, managing his own company, specializing in the automotive modification business. Now, Robert Hallock has announced his return to the technology industry, joining Intel as the Senior Director of Technical Marketing, with a focus on the work related to consumer processors’ artificial intelligence.

Yesterday, reports emerged that Intel will introduce its upcoming Core Ultra processor at the “Intel Innovation” summit next month. Since Meteor Lake represents the first integration of a VPU capable of fulfilling low-power artificial intelligence inference tasks, the new product’s AI-related features will be particularly emphasized. Robert Hallock’s timely announcement of joining Intel, coupled with the nature of his work, may be related to Meteor Lake’s imminent arrival.

Robert Hallock joined AMD in August 2010 and departed on September 9, 2022. Starting his career as a Product Marketing Manager, he gradually ascended the ranks, ultimately becoming the Technical Marketing Manager, a position he held for two years and three months. Over the years, Hallock introduced some remarkable innovative technologies to the public, including the Zen series core, 3D V-Cache, chiplet packaging, HBM memory, FreeSync, and low-cost graphics APIs. He worked for approximately six years in graphics and processor domains, actively engaging with the AMD community across various social platforms, offering unique insights, assisting users with AMD platform-related issues, and occasionally divulging valuable internal information, much to the delight of his followers.

Barring any unforeseen circumstances, audiences should expect to see Robert Hallock once again at next month’s “Intel Innovation” summit, where he will make his debut appearance, representing Intel for the first time.
