EU & UK iPad Buyers: Expect Extra Costs for Power

On May 7, 2024, Apple hosted a special event named “Let Loose,” where they unveiled the all-new iPad Pro and iPad Air, elevating both portability and performance to unprecedented heights and enhancing the user experience in work, learning, and entertainment.

According to Wccftech, the latest iPad Pro and iPad Air are available for order in nearly every country and region globally. However, Apple has decided that the packaging for these devices sold in the UK and the EU will not include a power adapter. For those who already own a fast-charging adapter, this omission may not pose a significant issue. Nonetheless, for some customers, the absence of an included power adapter necessitates a separate purchase, potentially adding inconvenience.

Historically, Apple’s practice of not including power adapters has predominantly been observed with iPhones. It is uncommon for Apple to apply this practice to their tablets, as evidenced by the standard inclusion of a 20W USB-C power adapter with the new iPad Pro and iPad Air sold in China. The specific reasons for excluding the power adapter only in the UK and EU regions, and not globally, remain unclear.

The market is currently flush with a variety of power adapters, many users prefer purchasing third-party adapters that feature multiple ports, particularly useful for charging various electronic devices while traveling. Given the specific power requirements of the new iPad Pro and iPad Air, some users’ existing older adapters might not suffice, which is something to consider when making a purchase.
