According to
TechPowerup, this solution comes from Alienware’s Experience Innovation Group (EIG). The starting point of the concept is that there may be more than one player at home, or want to be able to play games on different devices, whether it is a TV, a tablet, a laptop, or a desktop. Concept Nyx acts as a server and uses the Wi-Fi network at home to stream games on different devices in a local area network, instead of requiring an internet connection like general cloud streaming games. In contrast, it should have higher bandwidth and lower latency.
Concept Nyx can support four-game streams at the same time, which means that players can play different games with their family members. Not only can stream to different devices, but players can also switch quickly when different devices are better and can continue to play on other devices within a few seconds. Alienware also provides a handle called UFO for control, which can be connected to different devices and can be switched at home. In addition, two games can be streamed on one display device at the same time, which means that players with large screens can split into two small screens and play different games with their family members. Different players at home can access the entire game library and connect to large game service providers, such as Steam.
However, in the demonstration, Alienware did not provide any performance promises, including resolution and frame number.
