Apple Vision Pro is expected to first hit the US market early next year

According to a report from Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, the virtual vision headset, Vision Pro, is expected to first hit the US market early next year. Though it will be available for pre-order in approximately 270 Apple Stores across the country, physical demonstrations will initially be restricted to dedicated sections in major Apple Stores in New York and Los Angeles, equipped with tools to assist in adjusting the wearability experience.

However, Apple anticipates the future availability of a tangible display of the Vision Pro across all its stores within the United States, granting a broader range of consumers the opportunity to experience this cutting-edge virtual vision headset.

Apple plans to commence global sales of the Vision Pro by the end of 2024. Insider reports suggest that discussions are underway within the company to consider the United Kingdom and Canada as the initial non-US territories for its launch. Furthermore, preparations are being made to expand Vision Pro sales to markets in France, Germany, Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, and South Korea.

Despite these ambitious plans, the current price tag of $3500 for the Vision Pro might cause many consumers to adopt a wait-and-see approach. Consequently, rumors abound that Apple plans to launch a more cost-friendly version of the device, expected to make its debut in 2026, to attract a larger demographic.

In relation to the impending US launch of the Vision Pro, Apple appears to be developing an iPhone-specific app. This will enable users to scan their heads with their iPhones beforehand, helping users determine the suitable size of the headband more swiftly, while also collecting their visual data in advance. This will ensure that the Vision Pro they pre-order is tailored to their individual visual needs.

Given the limited supply and the device’s hefty price, initial in-store displays at Apple Stores will only feature 1-2 Vision Pro units for demonstrations and hands-on experiences. It is anticipated that Apple won’t use third-party distributors to showcase and sell the Vision Pro until at least 2025, meaning initial purchases of the Vision Pro will be available exclusively through Apple’s own sales channels.
