Apple rumored to be working on new iMac models: feature a 30-inch display

Apple, two years ago, unveiled a revolutionary iMac equipped with the M1 chip, featuring a 24-inch 4.5K retina display. Despite the launch of the M2 chip, Apple has yet to update its iMac. Speculation persists that Apple intends to introduce a new iMac Pro with a 27-inch screen, but recent reports suggest Apple plans to expand the lineup with a model that outmatches the new iMac Pro in screen size.

According to Wccftech, this forthcoming iMac model is set to boast a substantial 30-inch screen, although specific specifications remain uncertain. It is indisputable that the novel 30-inch iMac will utilize Apple’s proprietary chips, but it is unclear whether it will leapfrog the M2 series and employ the M3 series directly — a choice that might be replicated in the original 24-inch iMac.

To distinguish the novel 30-inch iMac from other products more effectively, Apple may provide the option between M3 Pro and M3 Max chips. A larger size implies more room for heat dissipation, accommodating adequate cooling modules for the M3 Pro and M3 Max. It is still uncertain whether Apple will opt for a mini-LED display or continue to employ IPS screens as a cost-saving measure.

Last month, reports indicated that developers were testing systems based on the M3 Pro to ensure compatibility with third-party applications. The CPU component is furnished with 12 cores, including six performance cores and six energy-efficient cores. The GPU comprises 18 cores, and an additional 36GB of memory is integrated into the board. Apple’s future will also see the arrival of the M3 Max and M3 Ultra, which will obviously be superior in terms of specifications. Rumor has it that the M3 Max will possess 14 CPU cores and 40 GPU cores, while the M3 Ultra will feature 28 CPU cores and 80 GPU cores.
