Apple lists three MacBooks as obsolete

Apple will start including its three MacBook series laptops on the list of obsolete products starting on April 30 this year. All three products were produced in 2014, namely the 11-inch MacBook Air (early 2014), the 13-inch MacBook Air (early 2014), and the 13-inch MacBook Pro (mid-2014).

It is understood that since 2020, these three laptops have been listed by Apple on the list of “vintage” products, and after April 30 this year, they will be moved to the obsolete list and become “obsolete” products. According to Apple’s regulations, products that are included in the obsolete product list will no longer enjoy all hardware services, but according to Apple’s memo information, the above three laptops may still enjoy battery repair services in some countries and regions.

Interestingly, among the three laptops, the 11-inch MacBook Air is the most special. The last update of the 11-inch MacBook Air product was in 2016. In October 2016, Apple has discontinued the 11-inch MacBook Air, which shows that small-screen notebooks maybe been abandoned by Apple. The 13-inch MacBook Air was last updated in November 2020 and was equipped with Apple’s self-developed M1 chip. In addition, according to display industry consultant Ross Young, Apple may launch a 15-inch MacBook Air in 2023.
