AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT is rumored to have an boost clock of over 2.5GHz
There are recent rumors that AMD will launch the Radeon RX 6×50 XT series graphics cards on the desktop platform. The new product is a high-frequency version of the original Radeon RX 6000 series. It will be equipped with a video memory rate of 18 Gbps. However, the GPU is still manufactured using the 7nm process, and the core clock of the GPU may be adjusted accordingly.
Recently, Twitter user @greymon55 revealed that the boost clock of AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT may exceed 2.5 GHz, which is at least 250 MHz higher than the original Radeon RX 6900 XT and about 65 MHz higher than the Radeon RX 6900 XT Liquid Cooled. Earlier reports pointed out that AMD will choose to release the Radeon RX 6×50 XT series graphics cards in June or July this year, but the latest news indicates that the Radeon RX 6950 XT will be launched in mid-April. Since AMD will also release Navi 3x series GPUs based on the RDNA 3 architecture this year, namely the Radeon RX 7000 series graphics cards, the Radeon RX 6×50 XT series should not wait too long.
It has been rumored that the Radeon RX 6×50 XT series includes three products, Radeon RX 6950 XT/RX 6850 XT/RX 6750 XT, covering Navi 21 and Navi 22 chips, but Twitter user @coreteks said that AMD has no plans for Radeon RX 6850 XT. In fact, there are quite a few models based on the Navi 21 core, and there are already four models: Radeon RX 6800/RX 6800 XT/ RX 6900 XT/RX 6900 XT LC, add in at least one Radeon RX 6×50 XT lineup, and that brings the Navi 21-equipped model to five or six, on par with Nvidia’s model with the GA102.
The Radeon RX 6950 XT’s rival will be Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3090 Ti, which was revealed at CES 2022. It has 10752 stream processors, the base clock is 1560 MHz, the boost clock is 1860 MHz, and it is equipped with 24GB of GDDR6X memory, with a speed of 21 Gbps and 384-bit memory bandwidth, the theoretical memory bandwidth exceeds 1 TB/s. Nvidia originally planned to announce more details in January this year, but in the end, it was left unfinished, and the specific release time and price are not known for the time being.
