AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT price drops significantly in Germany, about 26.2% lower than MSRP

The latest issue of graphics card price trends showed that both Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 30 series and AMD’s Radeon RX 6000 series have dropped to their lowest levels since January 2021. Among the AMD Radeon RX 6000 series, the average price of the Radeon RX 6500 XT is 8% higher than the manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP), which is the smallest premium. The Radeon RX 6500 XT was once below the MSRP in a deal released by German retailer Mindfactory last month.

According to TomsHardware, less than a month later, the price of Mindfactory’s AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT has further dropped, such as PowerColor’s products, AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT graphics cards with single/dual-fan cooling dropped to €169/€179 respectively. Compared with the MSRP in Germany of 229 euros (including 19% VAT), it is about 26.2% lower. In addition to the recent overall decline in graphics card prices, the inherent deficiencies in the configuration of the Radeon RX 6500 XT may be an important factor behind the sharp decline in its price.

The Radeon RX 6500 XT is based on the Navi 24 core, manufactured with a 6nm process, equipped with 16MB of infinite cache, has 16 CUs, that is, 1024 stream processors, 4GB of GDDR6 video memory, the speed is 18 Gbps, and the video memory bit width is 64 bits. Since the PCIe 4.0 interface is only four channels, the video memory capacity is only 4GB, and it does not support 4K H.264/H.265 encoding and AV1 decoding, it may have a greater impact on performance, which is far lower than expected, this caused many consumers to stay away.

At present, the price of high-end graphics cards like GeForce RTX 3080 or above is falling faster and has a tendency to accelerate. For some consumers, it may be a good time to buy a new graphics card.
