Western Digital launched WD_BLACK SN770 SSD: speed up to 5150MB/s

With the popularity of PCI-E 4.0 SSDs, product lines have also begun to be subdivided. In addition to launching high-performance flagship products, manufacturers will also launch some relatively mainstream products. Western Digital recently launched the Western Digital BLACK SN770, which adopts the same DRAMless design as other mainstream PCI-E 4.0 SSDs. However, unlike the previous SN750 SE, which is a little bit faster than the PCI-E 3.0 SSD, the performance of the SN770 has surpassed the first-generation PCI-E 4.0 SSD.

The previous Western Digital BLACK SN750 SE used the Phison E19T master control, while the new SN770 uses its own SanDisk solution. The main control number is SanDisk 20-82-10081, and the flash memory model used has not been announced. It is speculated to be BiCS 5 112-layer 3D TLC, with four capacities of 250GB, 500GB, 1TB, and 2TB, all of which use the single-sided M.2 2280 specification.

Western Digital said that the performance of the SN770 is 40% higher than that of the SN750 SE, and the energy consumption ratio is increased by 20%. Among them, the continuous reading speed of 2TB and 1TB reached 5150MB/s, 500GB is also 5000MB/s. In terms of write speed, the 1TB with the best performance reaches 4900MB/s, the 2TB is 50MB/s lower, the 500GB write speed is 4000MB/s, and the 250GB is only 2000MB/s. Overall, the performance of the SN770 is much better than the PCI-E 4.0 of the previous DRAMless solution.
The Western Digital BLACK SN770 has a durability of 200TBW per 250GB and a 5-year warranty period. It’s $59.99 for 250GB, $79.99 for 500GB, $129.99 for 1TB, and $269.99 for 2TB.
