Uber adds a “Package Returns” function in the US market

Uber has unveiled a service titled “Package Returns” across a sweeping 4,950 cities within the United States. This sophisticated feature facilitates customers in dispatching their online purchases to local post offices or service points such as UPS or FedEx, streamlining the online returns process.

This service finds its origins in Uber’s “Connect” cargo delivery feature, which has been operational for an impressive three years. It specifically caters to online return packages that are well-packaged and do not necessitate any additional shipping charges.

The standardized service fee is pegged at $5. However, those subscribed to the “Uber One” membership can avail of this service at a mere $3. Additionally, as customers utilize this feature to dispatch their online returns to designated points, they can harness Uber’s real-time package tracking, ensuring transparency during the delivery process.

For the moment, this service graces only the American market. Users can access it via the Uber or Uber Eats platforms. There remains uncertainty as to whether this provision will be introduced in international territories.

Nevertheless, Uber isn’t the pioneer in this realm. Several competitors, including DoorDash, have ventured into offering analogous services, making online returns more accessible via third-party platforms.
