SK Hynix announced fiscal 2021 and fourth quarter financial results
SK Hynix today announced its financial results for the fiscal year 2021 ended December 31, 2021, with consolidated revenue of KRW 42.998 trillion (approximately $34.398 billion) and a profit of KRW 12.41 trillion (approximately $9.928 billion). A full-year operating profit margin of 29% and net profit margin of 22%. This is the record revenue of SK Hynix since its establishment, surpassing the previous highest in 2018.
SK Hynix said that despite uncertain market factors such as supply chain disruption, as market demand increased, its technology and quality made its products competitive and achieved record annual sales. SK Hynix hopes to focus on the flexible DRAM business and secure profitability through the PC and server markets. With the industry’s first DDR5 and HBM3 DRAM, SK Hynix has maintained its competitiveness in the competition for high value-added next-generation products.
In addition, SK Hynix’s consolidated revenue in the fourth quarter of 2021 was 12.377 trillion won (about $9.901 billion), a year-on-year increase of 55%, and its profit was 4.22 trillion won (about $3.376 billion). For the first time in history, sales exceeded 12 trillion won on a quarterly basis, and profit reached 4 trillion won for two consecutive quarters. With the acquisition of Intel’s NAND flash memory in the first phase and the completion of the storage business, SK Hynix expects that with the blessing of the new company Solidigm, the sales scale of NAND flash memory will further increase, with sales doubling from last year.
SK Hynix plans to expand the recruitment plan, and the specific schedule will be announced next month. SK Hynix will start a series of campus recruitments in the first quarter of this year, as well as recruit experienced industry veterans to prepare for the next growth.
