Microsoft confirms Windows 11 File Explorer supports tabs feature

At present, the tab function of the File Explorer in the Windows 11 development version has not been tested, unless the user uses ViveTool to manually open it. Microsoft has not released any news about this feature before, and it was not until today that Microsoft officially announced this feature in development at the Hybrid work event. But the official announcement is nothing new, it’s all features we’ve already discovered such as moving tabs, creating new windows, and opening background tabs. Going forward, Microsoft may continue to add new features including window splitting and merging capabilities, like browsers that can adjust tab positions as needed.

The improvement of the quick access panel is mainly to integrate the cloud function. The quick access panel can now pin any file or folder for quick access by users. If users pin files in the cloud, such as pinning certain files in Microsoft 365, they will also be synced to Quick Access without repeating the settings.
At present, Microsoft has not disclosed when the redesigned Windows 11 File Explorer will be released, but considering that Microsoft has not yet conducted public testing, users still need to wait.
