July 2023 Steam Hardware Survey Report: AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX listed alone for the first time

Valve unveiled the results of the July 2023 Steam Hardware Survey today, finally spotlighting AMD’s Radeon RX 7000 series graphics cards, based on the RDNA 3 architecture. The flagship RX 7900 XTX emerged at the 93rd position in the graphics card leaderboard, representing a 0.17% share.

Though the Steam Hardware Survey does not provide any definitive data, it offers valuable insights into the trends shaping the PC gaming market. It should be noted that the earliest Radeon RX 7000 series graphics cards were launched in December of the previous year, over six months ago, keeping the gaming community in suspense before their eventual appearance on the graphics card ranking. By comparison, the competitor Nvidia’s flagship GeForce RTX 4090 holds the 37th place, with a 0.65% share, greatly overshadowing the Radeon RX 7900 XTX. The Radeon RX 7600, targeted towards the mainstream market and launched by AMD in May this year, is anticipated to appear more promptly.

The GeForce GTX 1650 maintains its lead this month, though its share has dipped by 0.37 percentage points to 5.3%. As expected, the GeForce RTX 3060 climbed from the third to the second position, its share growing by 0.14 percentage points to 4.88%. Consequently, the GeForce GTX 1060 slid down to the third position, despite an increase in share, gaining 0.02 percentage points to 4.6%. The GeForce RTX 2060 continues to secure fourth place, with a share reduced by 0.05 percentage points to 4.1%. The GeForce RTX 3060 Mobile version holds the fifth position, and surprisingly, its share has considerably dropped by 0.52 percentage points to 3.76%.

In these statistics, AMD processors continued their growth trajectory, with a share increase of 1.16 percentage points to 33.19%, while the share of Intel processors fell by 1.18 percentage points to 66.76%. In terms of core count, hexa-core processors remain in the lead, despite a 0.15 percentage point reduction in share to 32.28%.

Additionally, the share of the Linux operating system rose by 0.52 percentage points to 1.96%, surpassing Apple’s macOS (1.84%) for the first time in history. This increase can largely be attributed to the popularity of Valve’s handheld device, the Steam Deck, which significantly boosted the share.
