Intel plans to increase the price of Core processor products

Intel is presently expanding its semiconductor foundries across the globe. However, such expansion necessitates substantial financial outlay. According to reports, Intel intends to increase the pricing of its current CPUs to cover the investment required for foundry enlargement and corporate restructuring.

This information originates from Pockerclock, a forum moderator at the German media outlet PCGamesHardware. He contacted two German suppliers and stated that Intel plans to raise CPU prices within the next one to two weeks. All CPUs still in production will be affected, including the 12th-generation Alder Lake, the 13th-generation Raptor Lake, the upcoming Raptor Lake Refresh, and the future Meteor Lake, also known as the brand-new Core Ultra series. Intel’s decision to raise prices is unexpected and might be subject to regional limitations.

This isn’t the first time Intel has increased the price of its CPU products. Last year, they employed a similar strategy across all chips and parts, with increases ranging from single digits to as high as 20%. Intel has yet to specify the extent of the impending price hike and hasn’t officially disclosed any reasons. However, sources indicate that it’s linked to Intel’s foundry expansion worldwide, particularly in Eastern Germany.

Intel’s decision to restructure is already in motion, with the most prominent example being the discontinuation and divestment of the NUC product line. Given that the prices of current retail products are set to increase immediately, the impact of this price adjustment will manifest shortly. However, at present, only CPU products have been confirmed for price increases, with the Arc series graphics cards presumably not included in the list of products facing price augmentation.
