Intel issued several NUC product discontinuation notices, Includes NUC X15/P14E/12 Enthusiast

Intel decided last month to cease direct investment in its Next Unit of Compute (NUC) business and readjust its strategy. Subsequently, Intel reached an agreement with ASUS, who will manufacture, sell, and support the 10th to 13th generation of NUC product lines, as well as develop and design future NUC systems. This signifies that Intel will gradually withdraw from the NUC business, and it is merely a matter of time before its complete cessation.

Recently, Intel issued a new Product Change Notification (PCN), initiating the discontinuation of three NUC products crafted on the Alder Lake and Tiger Lake platforms, specifically the NUC X15, NUC P14E, and NUC 12 Enthusiast.

The NUC X15, provided as a reference platform for Tiger Lake and Alder Lake, with substantial shipments, has been noticeably affected. The latest generation of this product, codenamed “Alder County,” was released in the third quarter of last year, outfitted with a Core i7-12700H and the A730M/A550M graphics cards. Various OEM/ODM manufacturers have utilized this as a foundation for crafting their custom platforms. It is speculated that the ongoing support for these systems may also face some disruption.

The NUC 12 Enthusiast, code-named “Serpent Canyon,” was once one of the most eye-catching products in the NUC lineup, equipped with the 12th generation Core processor and the A770M graphics card, and possessing a compact exterior design. However, the inclusion of NUC P14E on the list is not unexpected, and it can even be said to be anticipated, given that it is an older product built on Tiger Lake, with a non-substantial shipment volume.

All of the above products will enter the End-Of-Life (EOL) stage, with customers being able to place their final orders by August 18, 2023.
