Google Pixel’s future roadmap leaked

According to Android Authority, Google Pixel’s roadmap for the next three years (2023-2025) has been exposed, which includes not only the Pixel series but also a new foldable phone.

First of all, in the first half of 2023, Google will launch two Pixel phones, one code-named “lynx” and the other “felix”. “lynx” is the Pixel 7a, a low-end version of the Pixel 7. And “felix” is Pixel Fold, Google Pixel’s first folding screen phone. Both phones will be officially announced at Google I/O in April or May next year.

Since the time is relatively recent, more details about the two phones have also been revealed. The Pixel 7a will be priced the same as the Pixel 6a at $449, and it will have more upgrades than the Pixel 6a, such as wireless charging and a 90Hz refresh rate screen. As for the Pixel Fold, it will cost a whopping $1,799 and will go head-to-head with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series.

In the second half of 2023, the Pixel 8 and Pixel Pro will launch, which will be an upgraded version of the current Pixel 7 series. Sources claim that in addition to the new Tensor G3 processor code-named “zuma,” and the Pixel 8 code-named “shiba” has a smaller screen, the Pixel 8 series will not change much and may be consistent with the Pixel 7 series design language.

By 2024, the Pixel 8a, code-named “akita,” will be launched in the first half of the year, but sources have also suggested that this plan may be canceled depending on the sales of the Pixel 7a. At the same time, Google plans to change the update frequency of the cost-effective a series from once a year to every two years, similar to Apple’s SE series.

The second half of 2024 is naturally the Pixel 9 series, which consists of three phones. The Pixel 9, the Pixel 9 Pro, and a phone codenamed “caiman” that has all the features of the Pixel 9 Pro, but with a smaller screen.

Finally, there’s the Pixel in 2025. If the Pixel Fold in 2023 does well, Google will also launch a new clamshell folding phone while iterating normally, just like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. If the foldable phone doesn’t work, Google will choose to launch four phones, belonging to two series and two screen sizes, just like the iPhone.

Of course, it must be emphasized that although the above information is highly credible, it is all rumors in the final analysis. Whether the future of Pixel will develop as described in the article still needs to be verified by time and the market.
