Crucial T700 PCIe 5.0 SSD: Up To 12.4 GB/s Transfer Speeds

Previously, LinusTechTips released a video featuring a brief test of the upcoming new Crucial T700 PCIe 5.0 SSD. Although the first batch of PCIe 5.0 SSDs have already hit the market, this new product, jointly created by Micron and Phison Electronics, boasts superior performance and promises a faster storage solution.

Recently, more information about the Crucial T700 PCIe 5.0 SSD has surfaced online. The company refers to the product as the “world’s fastest PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSD.” It utilizes a PCIe 5.0 x4 interface and an M.2 2280 form factor, equipped with Phison Electronics’ E26 controller chip, supports NVMe 2.0, and targets high-performance gaming, image, and video editing applications. Partners include AMD, NVIDIA, and ASUS. Its features are as follows:

The PCIe 5.0 SSDs currently available on the market have sequential read/write speeds generally around 10GB/s and 9.5GB/s, whereas the T700 PCIe 5.0 SSD’s 12.4GB/s and 11.8GB/s are noticeably faster. Furthermore, Micron has abandoned active cooling solutions, ensuring noise is not a concern during operation. Micron claims that the accompanying heat sink has been optimized, featuring carefully selected materials, a nickel-plated copper base plate, and an aluminum cooling module. The surface is smooth to maximize air circulation.

At the moment, it remains unclear when the Crucial T700 PCIe 5.0 SSD will be released and its specific pricing.
