Blizzard offers a blood-cold PC as a prize in the “Diablo IV” event

Blizzard’s ‘Diablo IV’ recently introduced the ‘Season of Blood’, an entrancing narrative intertwined with vampiric themes, abilities, and stages. In a bid to drum up enthusiasm for this newfound season and simultaneously contribute positively to society, Blizzard concocted a unique campaign in the U.S.: from October 20th to November 20th, players are encouraged to donate blood at designated centers and log their contributions on a particular website. Based on the cumulative volume of blood donated by the players, Blizzard promises in-game rewards. Intriguingly, once the collective donations surge to a gothic 666 quarts (roughly 630.27 liters), a lucky participant stands a chance to win a bespoke ‘Diablo IV’ PC via a raffle.

Per Blizzard’s details, this custom-built PC is powered by a Core i9-13900K processor, an RTX 4090 graphics card, 64GB DDR5 RAM, and a 3TB PCIe 5 M.2 hard drive — a formidable set of specifications, indeed. Yet, what renders it truly unique, bordering on macabre, is its cooling system: a split-type blood-cooled mechanism.

Indeed, the assertion stands as written. The coolant in this system boasts a singular, albeit chilling, feature—it contains genuine human blood. Noteworthy is Blizzard’s pointed emphasis in the event’s FAQ that this is not blood derived from animals like pigs, sheep, or cows, but veritably “REAL human blood”. Their evident pride in this audacious choice is palpable. However, the precise composition of the coolant remains a mystery—after all, it couldn’t possibly be entirely blood.

Incidentally, at the time of writing, the campaign’s progress bar indicates that nationwide players have achieved a 25% donation target, signifying a considerable journey ahead before the grand PC prize is up for grabs.
