Apple plans to launch an iPad Pro with an OLED display panel in 2024

According to a report from the market research firm Omdia, the first iPad Pro model to incorporate an OLED display panel will potentially be announced as early as 2024, thus replacing the currently used Mini LED display panel.

The report suggests that both the 11-inch and 12.9-inch variants of the iPad Pro are slated to transition to OLED display panels by 2024. Apple, at present, has already commenced the adoption of OLED display panels in its iPhone Pro-level models, along with select Apple Watch specifications, in order to enhance their display brightness and color performance.

iPad Pro OLED 2024

Apple plans to implement LTPO OLED display panels, designed using low-temperature polycrystalline oxide materials, in its iPad Pro products. This aims to replace the existing design that uses Mini LED display panels, thereby enabling the iPad Pro to render more authentic blacks and offer superior brightness control. Moreover, it could effectively display HDR image content.

Furthermore, thanks to the inherent attributes of OLED display panels, the anticipated new iteration of the iPad Pro is projected to support higher screen refresh rates, thereby contributing to reduced power consumption.

Prior to this, there had been reports suggesting Apple’s plans to utilize OLED display panels in the MacBook series. However, this initiative appears to have been postponed until 2027 or later.
