Apple Music will provide Hi-Res lossless audio from June

Apple has launched the Apple Music streaming service in recent years and has promoted wireless headphones such as AirPods and AirPods Max. Recently, Apple announces that Apple Music will begin to provide lossless audio and Dolby Atmos music starting this June.

Subscribers to the Apple Music service can listen to music in lossless formats on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV without additional monthly fees. At present, more than 75 million songs in the music library will be updated. Apple will provide Lossless and Hi-Res Lossless. However, Apple has not announced the audio bit depth and sampling rate specifications.

However, it should be noted that “Due to the large file sizes and bandwidth needed for Lossless and Hi-Res Lossless Audio, subscribers will need to opt in to the experience. Hi-Res Lossless also requires external equipment, such as a USB digital-to-analog converter (DAC).”. And the lossless format audio takes up a lot of storage space than the previous AAC, so users who download music will pay attention to whether their device has enough storage space.

In addition, Apple also provides thousands of music that support the Dolby Atmos standard and claims that any earphone can support it. Just use Apple’s own AirPods and Beats series earphones, which will be turned on automatically, while other earphones have to be turned on manually.
