Apple Music is second only to Spotify in the number of paid subscribers in the US

According to data compiled by Music Business Worldwide, an authoritative source of global music industry news and analysis, as of February this year, Apple Music has accrued over 32.6 million paid subscribers within the United States. This impressive figure is eclipsed only by Spotify, which boasts a formidable tally of 44.4 million paid subscribers.

In the meantime, Amazon Music, the streaming giant under the aegis of Amazon, has attained a total of 29.3 million paid subscriptions, hot on the heels of Apple Music’s burgeoning user base within the US market. Other noteworthy players include YouTube Music, with an accumulation of 8.5 million paid users, and Pandora, with a respectable 2.4 million paid subscribers.

However, when viewed through the lens of a global market scale, Spotify outshines its competitors. Its data disclosed earlier this year indicates a colossal total of 210 million paid subscribers worldwide. Amazon, on the other hand, unveiled data in January 2020 that places its global paid subscriber count at 55 million for Amazon Music. Apple last revealed its global figures for Apple Music in 2019, reporting more than 60 million paid subscribers, but has refrained from updating these statistics since.

If one were to consider data compiled by the website Business of Apps, Apple Music’s paid subscriber count may have exceeded 88 million as of June 2022. Nevertheless, when juxtaposed with Spotify, a significant disparity remains.
