Apple launches AirTag detection app for Android that can detect whether you are being tracked

Apple’s AirTag can be located through the crowdsourcing network. The normal use scenario is to put the AirTag in your bag, car, or on the keychain. If it is accidentally lost or stolen, you can check its approximate location through AirTag.

But in the real world, there is also malicious use of AirTag for tracking. For example, by quietly placing AirTag in a user’s bag, you can continue to track its trajectory and locate it. This may cause the privacy of the tracked user to be leaked and the user may not be able to find that they are being tracked

Tracker Detect

If the user is using an iOS device, the iPhone will alert when there is an AirTag nearby that is not its own, but if the user is not using an iPhone, there is no way. For example, using an Android device cannot detect whether you are being tracked.

So Apple launched this Android app called Tracker Detect, which can also be used to detect nearby AirTags after installation. If users are worried about being tracked, they can download the app for active detection.
Apple writes on the Tracker Detect description:
Tracker Detect looks for item trackers that are separated from their owner and that are compatible with Apple’s Find My network. These item trackers include AirTag and compatible devices from other companies. If you think someone is using AirTag or another device to track your location, you can scan to try to find it.
