Apple announces iOS 15 series model support list

Apple held the WWDC 2021 Global Developers Conference as scheduled. At the meeting, Apple announced the new features brought by the iOS 15 series and the support list for various models.

Originally, the user thought that old models such as iPhone 6S/6SP and the original iPhone SE would be abandoned, but they did not expect iOS 15 to still provide support for these models. That is to say, only iPhone 6 and below models cannot get the iOS 15 update.

Generally, Apple will provide five-year feature update support for such devices. As for the security update support, the time is longer. For example, the iPhone 5S can now get a security update.

However, it is surprising that the iPhone 6S series has been released for five years and can get functional updates, but it is unknown whether the performance will be affected after the upgrade.

Although these old models can get the feature update provided by Apple, some users of the old models will feel that there is a noticeable freeze after the upgrade.

Apple said that the company will not force users to upgrade to iOS 15, and if users are unwilling to upgrade, they can continue to use the old version and get security updates.
