2022 iPad Pro with an M2 chip will be released in the second half of this year

At its spring conference in March this year, Apple unexpectedly brought the iPad Air with the M1 chip. Although it seems quite kind to deploy stronger chips to mainstream devices, it is somewhat “below” for the iPad Pro product line. Of course, Apple has its new product layout plan. Recently, it was reported that Apple will upgrade to the M2 chip on the 2022 iPad Pro that will be updated this year.

This statement comes from Mark Gurman, an old acquaintance of Apple products who broke the news. He said that Apple will launch the iPad Pro with the M2 chip between September and November this year. Although the new chip has not yet been disclosed, it is believed that the M2 chip will usher in greater improvements in CPU, GPU, NPU, and video decoding performance. After all, the M1 chip has been launched at the end of 2020, and it has been more than a year. Under the current CPU update cycle that is replaced every year, it is already an old chip.

2021 iPad Pro
In addition to upgrading to a stronger chip, the new iPad Pro is expected to usher in a new mold design. The current iPad Pro is already the mold of 2018, and the appearance is actually applied to models such as the iPad Air. Therefore, the new iPad Pro needs a more novel design to highlight its “Pro” positioning. It is said that this time the new iPad Pro is likely to support MagSafe wireless magnetic charging.

In addition, Apple should also use the M2 chip on the new MacBook series notebooks. At this stage, Apple has basically completed the full-scale transition from x86 to ARM, including the MacBook series, Mac mini, and iMac are expected to undergo chip upgrades, and there are rumors that Apple may launch a 15-inch MacBook Air next year.
