Sony PlayStation VR2 will be released early next year
Sony recently posted on its Instagram account that PlayStation VR2 (PS VR2) headset will be available in early 2023.
In fact, news about PS VR2 has been coming out in recent months. This is the first time Sony has officially confirmed when this device will be launched. The design and some parameters of PS VR2 have been exposed earlier this year. It will support a 4K resolution, 90Hz and 1120Hz refresh rate, and a 110-degree field of view.
But the most special thing is that it uses the foveated rendering technology, which can reasonably blur the places on the screen that the player is not paying attention to while keeping the scene that the eye focuses on the center point clear. This technology is very similar to the local blurring technology such as VRS so that the computer or host can use the performance to the edge.
Sony announced earlier that around 20 or so major games will be available for players to play when PS VR2 launches. Some of these games are based on Horizon and The Walking Dead, as well as VR versions of No Man’s Sky and Resident Evil Village.
Unlike PS VR First Edition 1, PS VR 2 does not require a camera to be connected to the console to capture the player’s movements but uses similar technology to the Oculus Quest 2 to capture the player’s movements with the camera on the headset. This means that players can still see their surroundings while wearing the PS VR2.
