SK Hynix has started supplying its customers with 16GB packages of LPDDR5T
SK Hynix has announced the official release of its LPDDR5T (Low Power Double Data Rate 5 Turbo) 16GB memory kits to customers, boasting data transfer rates up to 9.6Gbps, making it the fastest commercial mobile DRAM product in the world to date.
The SK Hynix16GB LPDDR5T memory kits operate within the minimum voltage standard range of 1.01 to 1.12V as specified by the international semiconductor standardization organization, JEDEC. They integrate the HKMG (High-K Metal Gate) process and are manufactured using the 1αnm technology to deliver optimal performance. Compared to the previous LPDDR5X memory, the LPDDR5T offers a 13% increase in speed. Its data processing rate stands at 77GB/s, equivalent to processing 15 full-HD movies in just one second.
Since the introduction of LPDDR5T in January this year, SK Hynix has been collaborating with global mobile application processor (AP) manufacturers to validate the performance and compatibility of the LPDDR5T, ensuring its optimal functioning across various platforms and advancing its commercialization. In August and October of this year, SK Hynix completed performance and compatibility validation on MediaTek’s Dimensity 9300 and Qualcomm’s third-generation Snapdragon 8 mobile platforms. Recently, SK Hynix delivered its 16GB LPDDR5T products to vivo for use in their latest X100 and X100 Pro smartphones.
SK Hynix has stated that the application of LPDDR5T memory extends beyond smartphones, encompassing fields such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Augmented/Virtual Reality (AR/VR). The company aims to continue developing high-performance DRAM, integrating edge AI technologies into smartphones.
