Seagate launches IronWolf Pro 24TB hard drive

Seagate has announced the launch of their latest IronWolf Pro 24TB hard drive, constructed using conventional CMR technology and designed in the 3.5-inch format to meet the evolving data needs of small to medium-sized businesses and Network Attached Storage (NAS) environments.

The new hard drive features Seagate’s AgileArray technology, optimized specifically for NAS systems. It offers premier performance in multi-bay systems through dual-plane balancing and Time-Limited Error Recovery (TLER) technology. Furthermore, the hard drive incorporates built-in rotational vibration (RV) sensors, which work in tandem with the dual-plane balancing to mitigate vibration issues, thereby ensuring consistent high performance and reliability. Paired with IronWolf Health Management, the hard drive aids in data protection through preventative, intervention, and recovery recommendations, ensuring system health on compatible NAS systems.

The IronWolf Pro series now spans capacities from 2TB to 24TB, boasting a sustained transfer rate of 285MB/s, a maximum workload rate of 550TB/year, and a Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) of 2.5 million hours. This range ensures uninterrupted 24×7 performance, durability, and reliability in multi-cabinet and collaborative user environments, leading to an exceptional Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

The IronWolf Pro 24TB hard drive is priced at $649. It is currently available for purchase, and Seagate offers a five-year limited warranty, three years of complimentary Rescue Data Recovery Services, and IronWolf Health Management.
