Samsung may bring Galaxy Z Flip/Fold FE this year
Since the debut of its inaugural foldable model, the Galaxy Fold, in 2019, Samsung has annually released entries in the Galaxy Z Fold/Flip series from 2020 through 2023, currently culminating in the Galaxy Z Fold 5/Flip 5. Despite the entrance of numerous competitors into the foldable smartphone market, launching a significant number of foldable models, Samsung maintains a notable advantage.
As reported by Wccftech, Samsung is set to introduce the Galaxy Z Flip FE and Galaxy Z Fold FE this year. This development comes as no surprise, given the early rumors of the Galaxy Z Fold FE, which is expected to serve as the entry-level model within the Galaxy Z Fold 6 series and is slated for a release in the latter half of the year.
The Galaxy Z Fold FE, when folded, measures 155.1 x 67.1 x 14.2 mm, while the Galaxy Z Flip FE, once unfolded, extends to 165.2 x 71.9 x 6.9 mm. The former will be available in two versions, featuring either the second-generation Snapdragon 8 or the Exynos 2200 chipsets, whereas the Galaxy Z Flip FE will exclusively offer a second-generation Snapdragon 7 variant. Samsung is endeavoring to further reduce the production costs of these foldable devices.
This initiative marks Samsung’s first foray into entry-level foldable models, aimed at enhancing the market penetration of foldable smartphones, especially to expand its share in the Chinese foldable smartphone market. Currently, aside from Apple, most major smartphone manufacturers have ventured into the foldable device segment. Previous surveys indicate that approximately 27 new foldable phones are anticipated to launch by 2024.
