Samsung announces the appointment of Roh Tae-moon as new CEO of the smartphone division
Samsung Electronics has now appointed Roh Tae-moon as the new CEO of its smartphone division. This position was previously held by DJ Koh. After, DJ Koh will continue to lead Samsung’s IT, mobile and communications divisions. Roh Tae-moon is Samsung’s third CEO in the past dozen years.
Roh joined Samsung in 1997. He was involved in the development of the Galaxy device product line. He is reported to have performed well in engineering development and design, while also working hard to improve the quality of Samsung products in the past few years.
In contrast, the incumbent DJ Koh had two troubles, one was the flammable and explosive Galaxy Note 7, and the other was the Galaxy Fold, which had been delayed for a long time, but frankly, these were not all his faults. But the CEO still has some responsibilities.
It is reported that Roh’s main goal is to promote foldable products into the mainstream consumer market, followed by opening up sales markets in China and India for Samsung. Roh is proficient in cost reduction. He has also handed over the R & D and production rights of several Samsung mid-range and low-end mobile phones to outsourcing companies.
Samsung will host a product launch in San Francisco on February 11th, when it will release the Galaxy S20 series phones and second-generation foldable phones.
